Bucksport Regional Health Center has taken the lead on introducing Florence “Flo,” a product of Generated Health, to their patients. Flo is a system that uses patients’ mobile phones and automated text messages to interact with patients which can improve health outcomes. BRHC is using Flo to support their patients with hypertension and diabetes by using the program to remotely monitor their blood pressure and blood glucose get real-time feedback on their status.
Flo is a 24/7 personal digital coach that gives patients the opportunity to have more interaction with their clinicians. It accessible and incredibly simple for patients to use. All they need is a cell phone. There is no app to download.
How does it work?
A staff person at Bucksport Regional Health Center will set Flo up on a patient’s phone. Flo will then be able to send text messages to the patient on behalf of the provider. For example, if a patient has high blood pressure, Flo will text them with a reminder about sending in their blood pressure results as often as it is set up by the provider. If the patient’s numbers show signs of a problem, Flo will let the clinicians know that they need to intervene.
The Belle virtual assistant:
- Provides friendly and educational advice
- Nudges and celebrates successes which motivates the patient
- Captures data that can be easily seen by the provider
Also, Flo never forgets, is never on a vacation and is easy to be configured and personalized.
The objective is that the patient will begin to successfully manage their condition on their own and will no longer need text alerts or even require the nudges from Flo.
For more than 10 years, 20+ million patient interactions the team has refined Flo’s intelligent, human-like persona to create positive health-improving relationships with individual patients. Flo is safe and confidential. It is managed by administrators and clinicians via powerful, intelligent and secure software platform, clinically validated protocols, and extensive analytics.
Flo is focused on engaging patients and supporting behavioral change and self-care. This drives better clinical outcomes, better patient experience, and reduces clinical time. This approach has been developed and refined through over 100 independent clinical studies and is proven to change patient behavior and increase adherence to providers’ instructions.
Ask your provider if Flo is right for you.
